Level 2: Another One Bites the Dust
Moderately difficult tour: you will face some challenges, but also will have a moment to catch your breath
The tour begins at the pick-up point of your choosing. From there our instructors will drive you to the beginning of the off-roading route. Brace yourself for a transfer that will take approx. 30 minutes from Riga center. Upon the arrival safety briefing is held: listen carefully, knowing what to do and what not to do is important in order to not spoil the fun for everybody. At this point the adventure begins - you can now take the wheel.
Your instructor will guide you through the technical aspects of driving the terrain ahead of you, while also providing a helping hand where needed.
The land here is less coastal, landscape is rich with small hills and descends that look deceitfully easy to drive on, while in fact they are not. The forest here is low, consisting of dense growth of young ash and hazelnut trees. If you are lucky to catch the very beginning of spring this forest will look gorgeous, draped into thin, transparent lace of young delicate leaves. Most likely you will have a moment to marvel at it, because at this point some vehicles will be winching.
In this tour we have some short drives on the common gravel forest roads in between the challenging bits. This way you get plenty of off - roading action, while still having some time to catch a zen and witness your surroundings.
We are now farther from cities - this means that forest here is home to all sorts of wildlife. We've encountered wild deer’s, moose, and boars here. They are shy and hard to spot, but you can often see their hoof prints all over the place.
We will be negotiating muddy ruts a lot in this area: some are passable with relatively low effort; you just need to keep a vehicle on the edges of solid terrain. Others may be deeper than they appear, and the most difficult ones - well, you just have to power through - either with engine or with the winch.
By now it may be the good time to take a picnic brake - plenty of picturesque meadows to do that. After refueling, adventures can continue.
Our next challenge is river - water level fluctuates depending on weather conditions, in autumn it often goes over the bonnet - you are now a submarine captain!
But even at most shallow times, the riverbed itself presents a challenge - it is peppered with boulders so you have to choose the right trajectory to make it to the other shore.
We are again heading into the forest, but this one has been cleared some years ago but overgrown anew since then. For us it means even more challenging terrain. In addition to minding the soft track we now have to look out for stumps and branches treacherously hiding in the plain sight.
Also, on a day's menu are: occasional trenches, roads blocked by fallen trees, small mysterious forest lakes and landscapes in a season's most fashionable colors.
After the driving part is over, we meet at the finish line and thank each other for a day well spent. If an award ceremony was planned, then we proceed with it, if not, participants take passenger seats and instructors drive them to the drop off location.
If this seems too mellow, we can hit things up a notch with a little competition:
Competitive activities:
Backseat Driver: Are you the person who enjoys giving driving directions from the comfort of the car's backseat? It’s your time to shine! You become the eyes of the driver, who is conveniently blindfolded, and has no other choice than to do what you say. Neat, huh?! First vehicle at the finish line is the winner, the key to success is precision, and communication.
Smells Like Team Spirit: Your team receives a binder full of directions to the finish line. Which of your buddies can be trusted with driving? Which one is the pro at reading maps? Who is notoriously famous for getting lost in the shopping mall? Fastest vehicle at the finish line is the winner. The key to success is knowing one's strengths and weaknesses, communication and team spirit!
Gone with the blink: It is known that on a clear day human eye can see as far as 20 km. On a clear night one can see Andromeda Galaxy, which is 25 million light years away. But can one spot a checkpoints we've carefully hidden in the forest? From a moving vehicle? That is the question. The objective is to take pictures with a team member touching a checkpoint. The winner is the team with most photos taken in the given time frame.
Googly eyes: Spiders have 8 eyes, and octopuses see not only with their eyes, but also with their skin. You'll wish you were a spider-octopus for this challenge. Your crew receives directions to the finish line, and a set of photos taken along the route. To make your life even more difficult, our instructors added some random pics into the mix. The winner is the team who finds as many photo sights IRL in a given timeframe. The key to success is having as many eyes as possible. Blueberries are banned as a doping on this challenge :}
Additional services:
Picknick: If your tour duration exceeds 3h, we suggest having a lunch break in a picturesque location. You can either bring your own delicacies, or for larger groups, we can arrange catering on a spot.

Are you an abandoned army base lover, or a bird watching enthusiast? Can't wait to see some tiny countryside churches? Tell us what you are into, and we will figure out where to take you.
